Christmas Holidays 2025 Planning Session

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Editors note: This article and November 2025 content was planned in September 2025 and without coming across as out of touch and insensitive I wanted to still share the Christmas planning content as Jamaicans rebuild and recover from Hurricane Melissa.

I hope that these articles can help you and your family plan what you can for the holidays in whatever small way you can for Christmas 2025 especially for the young children in your life and family and your older adults.

This may seem trivial but I feel as if we need Christmas cheer now more than ever. The original article is below.

It is time…Christmas holiday 2025 planning session is in order. A lot of what I shared in my Christmas 2024 planning post still applies but let’s plan together. We are discussing budgets, meals, gifts, travel, decoration, themes, hosting and all that fun stuff today.

Christmas Holidays 2025 Planning

Christmas is on Thursday 25 December this year so hopefully companies will be kind and we will all be off from work by noon on Wednesday 24 December and enjoy a long weekend with our loved ones and friends and family. But don’t get caught off-guard and don’t go into 2026 with Christmas holiday debt.

Let’s deep dive.

Budget

Here are some categories of items to consider: gifts, food, hosting, decorations, and travel. I recommend that as soon as you done reading, liking and sharing (hahaha) this post that you take out your notebook or open your note app and write out all the names of the people in your life that you want or plan to give gifts to this year. Set a gift budget whether that is a per person budget or an overall spending plan for gifts and see how that will fit to your current money plan for November and December.

Now consider what you want to have for Christmas or Boxing Day dinner, really think of the menu, appetizers, salads, drinks and alcoholic beverages, desserts and cakes, mains and meats and all the sides, do a cost check and see where you land. Can you afford the dream Christmas holiday 2025 dinner or do you need to cut a few things?

Are you only cooking for your immediate family or are you hosting other friends and family? This will impact your budget.

Decorations, consider reusing what you got last year and only buy a few new items (that is my plan) but if you want a whole new colour scheme or theme or if this is your first year decorating add an line item for home and Christmas decorations.

Winter/Christmas Travel

Yep, I gave this its own heading. Why? Because if you are planning on travelling during Christmas to a country that has winter that is a big line item in your spending plan. You have to factor in plane tickets, accommodations, transportation, winter clothing and shoes, food and dining, entertainment, plus and I don’t want this to happen to you but it happened to me in 2018, you could also get sick. So plan accordingly don’t just look up flights, and invest in quality winter clothing that will keep you warm. Happy travels.

Final Thoughts on Christmas 2025 Holiday Planning

The holidays are a special time for you and your loved ones, whether you are single and celebrating with extended family or friends or a couple with no kids just having the two of you or a nuclear family, single family household or a large multi-generational family, the holidays can be a special time to make new memories and create new traditions. I hope these reminders help you organise your thoughts and get your plans in order.

Next post I will share some Christmas dinner ideas and please bear in mind that I am in a two person household so my personal holiday meals are smaller than you may need for your family. But I am excited about our holiday meal ideas blog post.

Take care until next time.

How far along are with your Christmas 2025 planning? Have you started?

  1. Good read. Very valid considerations, especially the budget. I reused my decor from last year with a few additions I got on sale last year after Christmas. I’m trying my best to bring joy into my household as we really do need all the cheer we can get.

    1. Hi Kimberly, Christmas is my favourite time of the year. 100% yes on reusing the decorations. That’s the plan. Ideally we’ll decorate our house in the first weekend in December. Thanks for reading and commenting.
